Donatella Cinelli Colombini

At Casato Prime Donne there are 16 hectares of Sangiovese vineyard and the winery for the production and ageing of the Rosso and Brunello di Montalcino wines.  The surrounding landscape of the Val d’Orcia has been declared by Unesco an important part world heritage site. Here the barrels and tonneaux are set among frescoes showing the history of Montalcino; there is a visual explanation of the origins of its name (literally, Mount of the Oak) of the Battle of Montaperti in 1260 where the inhabitants of Montalcino earned the nickname of Beccamorti (gravediggers). It is possible to organize guided tours and wine tastings.
The Tinaia del Vento fermentation area was inaugurated with the 2009 harvest. Set in the middle of the Brunello vineyards, it is open on four sides so as to naturally oxygenate the must during fermentation — a tradition carried on since yesteryear.
Fattoria del Colle is located between Chianti and Doc Orcia wine regions in Tuscany. It has 23 hectares of vineyards and 6 of olive grove. In two vineyards we coltivate the Foglia Tonda variety, an old tuscan grape which has been rediscovered.
At Fattoria del Colle we produce  Chianti Superiore DOCG, Cenerentola DOC Orcia (Foglia Tonda blended with the Sangiovese), Leone Rosso Doc Orcia,  Il Drago e le Otto Colombe IGT Toscana, Vinsanto Doc Chianti, Passito aromatico from Traminer grapes and  extra virgin olive oil. Fattoria del Colle winery is very suggestive: it begins in a medieval hermitage, it crosses the underground of the 16th century villa then rises up until the loft under the roof where the Vin Santo is kept. The vinification area has up- to- the- minute apparatus and a breathtaking view over the Crete Senesi and Val d’Orcia.
